Tibet Wonder Land
DAY
01: SINGAPORE/CHENGDU (MOB/L/D)
Assemble at Changi International Airport for your
flight to Chengdu-land of Abundance. Upon arrival, proceed to Temple
of Marquis Wu, located in the southern suburbs of Chengdu. It was
built in the 5th century in the commemoration of Zhu Geliang,
a famous military strategist of the Three Kingdoms Period (220-65AD)
immortalized in on of the classics of Chinese literature - The Tale of
the Three Kingdoms. After which, proceed to visit Du Fu Thatched Cottage.
This Cottage located beside the Huanhua stream in west suburbsof Chengdu, it is
the former residence of the well-known poet Du Fu of the Tang Dynasty
(618-907), who came to live here to escape war.
DAY
02: CHENGDU/LHASA (B/L/D)
After breakfast take a domestic flight to Lhasa. an elevation of 3500m, the capital city of
Tibet.
Tibet is land like no
other. The majority of its land rests above 4000 meters (13,000 feet)
and is surrounded by mountain ranges on three sides. It is a place for
the rugged adventurer as well as the spiritual wanderer. Referred as the
last Shangri La, The Roof of the World and by many more, and Tibet is
certainly a place worth visiting in a lifetime.
Upon
arrival, to
Lhasa city with about two hours' driving (100km). On the way, you'll get
greeted by Nie Tang Budda - a Budda image engraved in the mountain face.
After arrive in Lhasa, rest and acclimatize, free for acclimatization.
DAY
03: LHASA (B/L/D)
After
breakfast, today have a whole day of sightseeing in the holy city. Visit
Lhasa's landmark - Potala Palace, a structure that deserves a
place as one of the wonders of eastern architecture as This huge structure
is the former home of the Dalai Lama and a sight you will definitely not
forget.
Potala
Palace, winter palace of the Dalai Lama since the 7th century,
symbolizes Tibetan Buddhism and its central role in the traditional
administration of Tibet. The complex, comprising the White and Red
Palaces with their ancillary buildings, is built on Red Mountain in the
centre of Lhasa Valley, at an altitude of 3,700m. After lunch, visit Jokhang Temple -
the most sacred, oldest temple,holiest shrines and revered
religious structure in Tibet,
originally built in 647 A.D. in celebration of the marriage of the Tang
Princess Wencheng and the Tubo King Songtsen Gampo. In front of the gate
is a stone Tablet of Unity from the Tang Dynasty; inscribed are both
Chinese characters and Tibetan script. And its surrounding area
- Barkhor, Lhasa's pilgrimage circuit. This area is both the
spiritual heart of Lhasa and the main commercial district for Tibetans. Barkhor is also a famous bazaar for Tibetan handicrafts and antiques.
DAY
04: LHASA (B/L/D)
After breakfast,
excursing to Yangpachen, 110
kilometers north of Lhasa, is famous for its hot springs. Admiring
the world-famous Yagpachen Geothermal Zone, enjoying the charming
landscape on the grassland of northern Tibet, Commanding a long distance
view of Mt. Chenthangla Range (average height is 5300m). Pay to take a
hot spring bath.
DAY 05: LHASA/NYINGCHI (B/L/D)
After
breakfast, drive to Nyingchi area. On the lower reaches of the Yarlung
Zangbo River in southeast Tibet, Nyingchi is some 3,000 meters above sea
level. It has a moist weather and a beautiful natural scene. On the way,
visit Lake Basum-Tsu is also rich in its products with its
gorgeous and enchanting sights. Covering
26 square kilometers, the pristine waters of the green lake reflect the
picturesque snow-capped peaks surrounding the lake. The entire area
around Basum Lake is so beautiful that thoughts of the inspiring Swiss
Alps come to mind as one stands on the shoreline of this majestic lake.
DAY
06: NYINGCHI/LHASA (B/L/D)
After breakfast,
visit the old pine which grows about 2500 years, then go back to
Lhasa, on the way you can enjoy the great landscape en route.
DAY
07: LHASA/CHENGDU/SINGAPORE (B)
After breakfast, transfer to Konggar
Airport for
your flight back to Singapore via Chengdu.
